Leather Care

THE LEATHER WE USE

We use aniline leather which is mostly pre-treated with a water-repellent care product. When cleaning, always work carefully with a dry brush or slightly damp cloth, making sure you clean the whole surface. The remaining patina is typical of aniline leather. Protect your leather jacket with a cream or grease-based shoe care products. A well-greased leather produces that typical porous patina that means the leather grows only more beautiful over time. Use colourless/neutral shoe care products to help reduce scratches and abrasions. Take care to do a patch test in a hidden area before using any product on aniline leather as it may darken the colour.

MAINTENANCE & UPKEEP

Regular cleaning and upkeep enhance the lifespan of your leather jacket by preventing stains and wear indicators.

Never wash your jacket either in a washing machine or by handwash.

IF YOUR JACKET GETS WET

If your leather jacket does get wet, allow it to dry naturally. Avoid using a hairdryer or drying it outside in the sun.

IF YOUR JACKET GETS STAINED

Be careful not to rub the leather surface too hard as this may damage the surface, allow the stain to dry out and apply appropriate leather care products.

If your leather has substantial stain or damage, or if you have specific issues, you can contact us at customercare@samsons.in or take your jacket to your local specialist leather repair shop, who will offer you their expertise.

STORING YOUR JACKET

Use a coat hanger (with thicker, padded edges) to hang your leather jackets when not in use; avoid keeping it folded for a long time as it may cause deep creases which will take time to come off.

Avoid prolonged, direct sunlight exposure, heat or humidity as it may cause colours to fade.

Store your jacket in a well ventilated area of your wardrobe in a breathable fabric, avoid placing your jacket in plastic bags during storage.

LEATHER CARE PRODUCTS

Only use leather cleaners and leather care products on leather for the best results.

Before applying a product or treatment to the entire surface of your leather jacket, clean the leather using a brush and a moist towel and always test it on a small, inconspicuous spot (such as the inside of the cuff)

WHEN IT IS TIME TO GIVE YOUR JACKET AWAY

In most instances, you would hand down your jacket to your favourite charity as leather is repairable and reusable / repurposable. We could also donate your leather jacket on your behalf if you raise a return shipping request with us.
